Missions and Outreach
“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” —1 Chronicles 16:24
We pursue outreach ministries by the direction of the Lord Jesus Christ and under the leadership of the Holy Spirit in accordance with all the provisions as set forth in the Bible.
We believe it is important for Christians to live out their faith and make a difference in their world. Our mission ministry assists individuals and families in Davie County, North Carolina, and the world. As followers of Christ we are called to be bearers of light—Christ's light, which brings hope to our community and to the world.
“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” —Hebrews 13:16

The Good Neighbor Fund was started at Bethlehem in 1992 as an outreach ministry to aid Davie County people in need. The GNF continues the legacy of a ministry at Back Creek Friends church in Asheboro, N. C., where George McDowell, Steve McDowell’s father, was pastor. For many years, Steve, Hoyt Dorsett, and many members of Bethlehem hosted barbecue fundraisers for the funds to continue helping our community. As the leaders of this ministry aged and health problems arose, the barbecues had to be discontinued. However, through generous donations from members and trust funds, the GNF has continued to serve. The fund can be used to help pay for rent, power, water, gas, etc. A maximum amount of $400/year is granted to each recipient. Although funds often run low as needs continue to rise, we are continually blessed to be able to serve the needy in Davie County.
To make a donation, please make a check payable to Bethlehem Methodist Church. Our address: 321 Redland Rd., Advance, NC 27006; write “Good Neighbor Fund” on the memo line.
Thank you to all who continue to support this ministry!
